Founded in 1918 by Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen, Ortofon is the world's oldest and most experience cartridge manufacturer. Their first Moving Coil cutterhead was produced in 1945 and the Moving Coil principle was subsequently developed to enable production of mono cartridges and - later - stereo cartridges.

Offering a range that now spans entry-level Hi Fi through audiophile products and an excellent range of DJ and professional cartridges, Ortofon are without question the world's largest and most dedicated maker of analogue reproduction systems.

The firm currently invests around £500,000 per annum in R&D and new machinery, ensuring Ortofon remains at the very forefront of the market and cementing their commitment to the future of record playing.
