Spendor Loudspeakers are very proud to be a British loudspeaker manufacturer and are based in Hailsham, Sussex. They been designing and producing loudspeakers since the 1960’s, having originally been founded by Spencer and Dorothy Hughes. Their first loudspeaker was the ‘BC1’, a studio monitor that became a design classic. Soon after, they started to produce speakers for the consumer market. James-Morrow selected Spendor as a perfect addition to our other speaker ranges. We have supplied Spendor speakers to owners all over Scotland – in areas such as Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and of course the Edinburgh area. Working well with any high quality electronics and whether using in a two channel system or full surround sound system, Spendor Loudspeakers should certainly be on your list for auditioning.

SA1 Loudspeakers
The A1 is Spendor’s most recent stand mount speaker, offering compact proportions with a big speaker sound. The A1 has received rave reviews since its release in 2008, achieving five star reviews in both Hi-Fi Choice in December 2008 and also What Hi-Fi in July 2008.  The Spendor SA1 speakers have also just won a 'blind' group test in July's issue of HiFi Choice.

Spendor chose to use a fully sealed box design, resulting in a dynamic sound reproduction and allowing for ease of placement, working equally well when placed against a wall.

The SA1 is available in three unique finishes, Zebrano high gloss, Jet Black Piano Lacquer and Wenge Deep Satin. A matching floor stand for the SA1 is available including a colour matched inlay. The quality of finish on the SA1 really is different to almost all other products on the market and we have the SA1 and matching stands on display in store.

A Line
The Spendor A line are a compact range of floor standing speakers and surround sound system component speakers, using technology first developed for the Spendor SA1 speakers. They produce a clear, revealing sound with versatile placement due to Spendor’s Linear flow Reflex Port system. The A Line is available in four finishes: black ash, cherry, light oak and wenge.

A5 Loudspeakers
The A5 is the most compact model in the A range, which features two 15cm driver units and a 22cm tweeter. Producing a scale of sound surprising for such a compact speaker, the A5 has astounded purchasers and critics alike. Many reviews have been written and all agree, this is a superb speaker and offers the buyer the perfect combination – compact size with no compromise on sound.

A6 Loudspeakers
The A6 increases on the size of the A5 with one 29mm tweeter and also one 18cm main driver. This coupled with the cabinet size has resulted in deep engaging bass together with an incredibly fast response to even the most demanding piece of music. Since the launch of this speaker the A6 has proved very popular in store – being purchased by customers who listen to all types of music. Again the speaker sounds great when used with any quality electronics. Owners or buyers of Cyrus products should certainly be aware – this partnership in particular works exceedingly well.

A9 Loudspeakers
The newest addition to the Spendor A Series the A9 is a floor standing, three way speaker. It features two newly designed kevlar base drivers, a 15cm mid range driver and also a 29mm wideband tweeter. The A9 features Spendor’s Linear flow Port designed to provide deep consistent base no matter where the speaker is placed within a room. Like the other A line models, the A9 is available in four different finishes, black ash, cherry, light oak and wenge.

C5.2 Loudspeakers
Spendor produces the C5.2 centre speaker to complement their entire range of loudspeakers. The C5.2 is a compact design and is ideal when space available is limited but performance is still essential. Centre speakers are of paramount importance in a surround sound system and with the C5.2 in place, the dialogue is locked to the screen.

SR5.2 Loudspeakers
The SR5.2 is designed to be mounted on the wall and is primarily used for surround sound applications. However, as they have a very wide sound field with superb music reproduction, they are also a perfect choice when looking for a quality and wall mounted speaker solution for stereo audio.

Spendor Classic Range Loudspeakers
The Spendor Classic range is borne from thirty years experience of speaker manufacture and design – both in the domestic and commercial (studio monitor) market. The Classic range was designed partially with the customer who requires the more traditional, furniture like loudspeaker. The range is available in five wood finishes: black ash, cherry, light oak, rosenut and walnut.

S3.5R Loudspeakers
Of particular note in the Classic range is the Spendor S3/5R speaker. These are the most compact model in the range, standing at just over 300mm tall. Happy to be placed on a shelf or stands, they produce a neutral and very natural sound in keeping with their monitor grade heritage. These speakers have been received very well by our customers and due to their design, they work equally well in a Study book cabinet or a formal Living Room.

There are other speakers in the Spendor range not detailed above and more new models being launched throughout 2010.
